Students will learn the basics of alpine ice climbing and swap leads — place screws, build anchors, manage belays, build v-threads — on moderate angle (WI2+) alpine ice.

- Sharp 12 point steel crampons (no aluminum)
- Conventional ice axe
- Ice tool (optional)
- v-thread tool
- 4-5 feet of 7 mm nylon cord
- 2-3 ice screws, including one 22 cm
