McCarthy SIG and Foothills students: Bring your practice rope and appetite to the Crossroads Mall Food Court, 6 pm. We'll grab a table (or 2 if necessary), and have dinner and conversation and some knot practice.
Then, say 7 pm or so, the party moves across the parking lot to Stone Gardens (15600 NE 8th St, Suite C-1 , Bellevue, WA 98008) for some indoor climbing. You'll get to practice top-rope belay and some of the various rock techniques that you'll need for your outdoor rock climbs. This is a low-key evening to have some fun, practice stuff that you already know, and get those forearms pumped out.
This is an optional practice, and we don't have a special deal with Stone Gardens, so there are out-of-pocket expenses. Currently their website shows $22 for one day pass, and $6.75 if you need to rent shoes. You should already have a harness and belay device / locking carabiner.
Note: First time visitors will also have to sign a waiver and pass a belay test. So it might be good to head over earlier (or the day before) to get this overhead knocked out.
Also, Stone Gardens Members: Rumor has it that S.G. members are allowed one guest without entry fee, so if you are a member, please identify and do someone else a solid!
Required Equipment
Harness, belay device, locking carabiner, rock shoes.
