Meet at the Helioptrope Ridge Trailhead (https://goo.gl/maps/Tuue8CuR2o3ZEe8SA) at TBD to hike up to the seracs.

We may camp overnight at Harrison Camp (https://www.gaiagps.com/hike/poi/united-states/washington/mount-baker-snoqualmie-national-forest/harrison-camp/).  There are a variety of dispersed campsites there with water nearby from Heliotrope Creek.

Students learn to swap leads on low angle glacier ice.

  • Sharp 12 point steel crampons 
  • Conventional ice axe
  • Ice tools (optional)
  • v-thread tool
  • 4-5 feet of 7 mm nylon cord
  • 4-5 ice screws, including one 22 cm
