Final times will be communicated by the leader but plan on 8am at Olallie State Park at Exit 38, for a full day ending at 6pm

Students will break into two groups and spend two days learning and practicing a variety of rigging techniques, and putting into practice the vertical and horizontal rope progression techniques learned on day 2. The curriculum includes a variety of anchors, including natural anchors, bolts and pitons. Students will rig multiple types of fixed and releasable systems, and learn the application and context for each. Students also get a chance to practice making decisions about rigging based on a variety of factors including water, rock quality, and team competence. Time permitting, the group will descend a canyon, however the majority of the instruction will occur in one section of a beginner canyon that's well-suited to practice a variety of techniques.

All equipment is provided for use during the course. However, if you have your own gear, we encourage you to use it. Please let the instructor know in advance.

The rigging days will require all canyon gear, including wetsuits, shoes, helmets and whistles. Plan to bring your own lunch.
