Skills day for Seattle scramble equivalency candidates. Expect a full day out in the mountains, having fun, practicing skills, and learning about the scramble program.
We will discuss the scramble equivalency program, scrambling with the Mounties, navigate as a team, review and practice all snow skills (walking in balance, kicking steps, self belay, self arrest, and glissade), and then move to some basic rock (depending on what we can find), and learn the protected downclimb technique. I will provide the equipment you need for this, but know how to make a water knot and a klemheist hitch (alternately a prusik hitch). Depending on weather, etc., we may or may not actually get to the summit. Please expect a full day out in the mountains, as well as some fun, some practice of our snow skills, and maybe even some sun and views.
