Mountaineers Summer Camp - Olympia

AFTERNOON Mini Mountaineer Camp: NATURE CREATIONS is for campers ages 5-9 from 1:00-4:00pm.

For campers ages 5-9, this week of AFTERNOON Mini Mountaineer Camp is filled with hands-on activities, crafts, and outdoor exploring that focus on learning all about nature in the Pacific Northwest! A new crafty creation will be made each day as we explore beaches, identifying plants, forage for delicious foods, and learn how to protect the land around us as we create art that will last through the years.  After camp,  your child will walk away ready to appreciate and engage in nature! Mini Mountaineer camp is Monday - Friday 1:00-4:00 at the Olympia Friends Meeting House.

Basic Schedule:

Monday: We will play plenty of fun get-to-know-you games as well as focus on learning the essentials to safely explore the outdoors and work together to tie dye our Camp Shirts!

Tuesday:  With the help of a local park ranger, we will help with a stewardship project and learn to importance of protecting our lands as we use invasive plants to create a beautiful wreath and/or photo frame.

Wednesday:  Today is all about tide exploration and Rock creation! After combing a local beach for rocks and shells, we will return to make shell jewelry and painted rock art for the family.

Thursday: A delicious day of learning about local plants as we work together to pick a variety of edible plants and prepare to delicious snack from our pickings.

Friday: Our final day will be filled with games and nature creations based on Leave No Trace principles while enjoying one more day at the beach nearby.
