Olympia Explorers Hike - Mount Ellinor

Hiking for the Olympia Explorers. This is a strenuous uphill hike that give fabulous view of Hood Canal and Lake Cushman and offers the opportunity for scrambling at the end if desired.

Meet at the Olympic National Forest HQ on Black Lake Blvd at 9:00 am for a 9:15 departure.  We will not wait for late people. Plan on carpooling if desired.

We will have one group stop at the vista point and another group continue to the top for some scrambling, depending on weather and how everyone is feeling.

Required Equipment

The altitude is high but the hike is strenuous, so bring layers as well as rain gear and gloves.  If we sit around at the vista point you will need some very warm sitting around clothing!!

Really good shoes are a must!

Hiking poles are helpful for steep ascents and descents.

Don't know if there are still  mountain goats up there but traditionally it was easy to see them there.

Adults bring 10 essentials and kids bring modified ten essentials appropriate to their weight and age.  Minimum of good pack, spare clothing, water, spare food, food for eating, rain gear, sun gear.
