Sea Kayaking Course

Sea Kayak Roll Class

Sea Kayak Roll Class

Learn to roll.  The ability to roll is not only the best "self-rescue."  It is also essential to improving many other kayaking skills, particularly bracing and edging.  Once you are not concerned about capsizing you will be more willing to fully commit to these other skills and, once you have solid edging and bracing skills, you will be less likely to capsize and less likely need to roll.  Other than that, rolling is a great way to cool off on a hot day and rolling is fun.

Clinic will consist of 1 evening of watching a video (January 2), three pool sessions at the Bremerton YMCA, (0645 to 0930 on January 3, 10, and 17), and one optional trip to the salt water following the January 17 pool session.

Participants need to bring CLEAN kayak, their normal kayaking footwear, paddle, paddle float, sprayskirt, pfd, towel, and whatever insulation they need to stay warm messing about in the pool for a couple of hours.  They will also need nose clips.  Swim goggles or dive mask might be welcomed.
