Required Equipment
Required Equipment
• Appropriate clothing – you'll be outside for the entire field trip and it may be snowing and windy
• All of the items in the "Required Gear" and "10 Essentials" sections of this handbook
• Waterproof jacket and pants, if you have an old set then bring those. Self-arrest, glissading practice and crampons can all be hard on your outer shell.
• Glasses and/or goggles
• Gloves. Since your hands will get wet from the snow, waterproof or water resistant are best. A dry backup pair is strongly recommended.
• Gaiters.
• Dry clothes for the drive home, see the "Suggested Gear" section of the handbook on bringing a car kit
• See the "Suggested Gear" section of this handbook for other items you may want to bring
• Food/snacks/water for the whole day.
• Crampons

• Mountaineering Boots (toe warmers if you have lighter boots; put them on top of your toes)
• If you have a snow shovel bring it for smoothing out the self-arrest chute; they can get lumpy
