MLC Online course lecture #6/7.
Session 6 Overview: Weather A to Z: Leading in Challenging Weather Conditions.
In the last several years we have seen year round seasonal weather patterns that can make it hard to decide whether conditions are safe or not. Atmospheric rivers, heat domes, cyclone bombs, 100 year floods, to name a few, are relatively new terms for describing new season weather patterns that leaders may face as they paln and lead trips. The intent of this session is to:
- Understanding weather patterns and conditions that may occur in Washington
- Strategies for managing trips when the forecast is variable: go - no go?
- Ideas for how to manage decision making and communications related to weather
- How to pivot on a scheduled trip when weather requires you to change the trip
This 2 hour Mentored Leader Course (MLC) session will be delivered by Zoom online classroom. Participants will be emailed the Zoom link a couple of days in advance of our session. We will sign in about 10-15 minutes before the session begins and encourage you to sign in early so that we are ready to go at 6:30 pm.
It is an expectation for all course participants to attend this session. The session will be recorded and sent out with the session follow up email.
