September Hikes: 4 to 8 miles, 750 to 2,000 feet gain - West Tiger Mountain No. 3

West Tiger 3 is one of the Seattle area’s most iconic hikes—a must-do notch on your belt. The summit rewards with breathtaking views that make the challenging ascent worthwhile. We’ll take Nook Trail partway up, a lush, tranquil path that’s a bit more rugged than the main Tiger 3 trail, before pausing at Talus Rocks—massive, magnificent, erratic glacial boulders—on our way to the top. This hike counts toward your September GoHike requirement.

We’ll keep a social pace of 1.75-2.0 mph on both the ascent and descent, with short 1-2 minutes breaks to grab a snack, catch our breath or adjust packs. Arrive a little early to get settled in; we’ll kick things off shortly after introductions and a quick map overview.

Keep an eye out for my “Hello Hiker” email! If you don’t see it, check your junk folder and let me know if it’s still missing. I’ll be sending it right after registration closes.

Pack extra layers, plenty of water, snacks, and the 10 essentials. We’ll stick together, wait at intersections, and look out for each other.

At the summit, we’ll take a relaxed 30 minute break to celebrate,  enjoy snacks and the panoramic views. Can’t wait—this hike is a classic!
