May Hikes: 3 to 5.5 miles, 300 to 1,250 feet gain

Field trip: GoHike: Beginner Hiking Course

May Hikes: 3 to 5.5 miles, 300 to 1,250 feet gain - Rattlesnake Mountain (West)

Enjoy a relaxed out-and-back hike to Stan’s Overlook. The trail follows a well‑graded section of the Rattlesnake Mountain Trail, climbing steadily for ~1000 ft through quiet second‑growth forest before opening to a beautiful viewpoint above Snoqualmie Valley. This hike counts toward your monthly required GoHike course May trips.

  • We'll start at the signed Rattlesnake Mountain Trail near the upper end of the Rattlesnake Lake parking area.

  • The trail begins with a gentle grade and quickly settles into a steady uphill climb.

  • Footing is generally excellent: wide tread, minimal rocks, and no exposure.

  • After about 1.8 miles, the forest begins to open slightly as we approach the overlook.

  • A short final rise leads to Stan’s Overlook, where a wooden bench marks the viewpoint.

  • We'll stop for brief breaks along the way, as needed, and a longer break at the overlook.

  • Then we'll return the way we came for a total of roughly 4 miles

10:00am at the Rattlesnake Mountain Trail parking lot at 10:00am.  Those who would like to join me for an optional dynamic yoga warm-up should be there by 9:45.

Restrooms are available at the trailhead.  No parking passes are required.
