This is considered an Urban Walk and may count toward the monthly requirement of one trip activity a month for the GoHike Course. There isn't a need for all 10 essentials and more information will be provided in the email you receive prior to the activity. Please bring a small day pack, with at least 1 liter of water, which equals about 32 oz.
In addition, please bring hiking poles for balance if you have them, a small snack and some layers as it may be chilly starting out. Good hiking boots or good traction runners are recommended. Sun protection is encouraged.
This is considered an out and back hike. The wide dirt trail can that will be muddy if it's been raining. It starts to descend sharply, losing almost 400 ft of elevation in 0.5 miles. The descent is facilitated by an 85-step staircase built into the hillside. Remember you will be going BACK UP the stairs when you come back.
We will start out at a comfortable pace. There may be times where we will go faster just to get an idea of what that feels like, but the hike will be around 1.5-2 mph, and on flatter parts, we could go a little quicker.
Meet in the parking lot at 8:45AM and will begin hiking promptly at 9:00. The address is 6026 156th St SW, Edmonds, WA 98026. It is at the end of 156th St SW, just past 60th Ave W. No parking pass is required.
The parking lot can hold about 30 cars and is often full. Usually it is possible to find a parking spot in nearby streets - make sure to park where it is permitted. There are port-a-pots both at the trailhead and 1.25 miles down the trail at the picnic site
