June Hikes: 3.5 to 6 miles, 400 to 1,500 feet gain - West Tiger Mountain No. 3

Field trip: GoHike: Beginner Hiking Course

June Hikes: 3.5 to 6 miles, 400 to 1,500 feet gain - West Tiger Mountain No. 3

In the eastern lowlands of West Tiger 3 sits Murat Bridge, the centerpiece of this idyllic loop. This 220-foot steel span floats above High Point Creek and was built without cranes or heavy equipment—an impressive engineering feat in the middle of the forest. The hike offers a peaceful escape and a good challenge on small, twisting trails that leave the well-worn paths behind. This hike counts toward your June GoHike requirement.

  • Moderate/Strenuous
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 5.5 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 1,200 ft
  • Pace: 1.5-2mph

One section has a fairly good climb, please be conditioned for that challenge. We'll pause for snacks at Murat Bridge and take in the views.

Be on the lookout for my “Hello Hiker” email! If you don’t see it, check your junk folder and let me know if it's still missing. I’ll send it out right after registration closes.

We’ll stick together, wait at intersections, and look out for each other.

Anchelle's Alley – A potential challenge if you are afraid of heights: If you have a fear of heights, this section may feel challenging. However, there’s enough room for you and both of your trekking poles.
