I scouted this hike and it is a lovely double loop. The first short section  (.7 miles and 300 feet of gain) is quite steep, and I recommend poles. Then the rest is gentle undulations and rolling hills and then descending back on that steep section. There a couple of peek-a-boo views of Lake Sammamish. There are some benches to stop at, even a picnic table at a bridge and stream feature. On the second half of the hike, there are two look out points for views of the deep fern-filled canyon. - There are places to party separate (bio break) should someone need that during the hike.

More information will be sent out to you a few days before the trip. I expect you to read the entire email and respond that you understand what is expected so you can get the most out of our time. Looking forward to meeting you!

Trip Goals:

  • To enjoy a local old growth forest gem in Bellevue
  • To complete the 3.5 mile route with smiles and comaraderie

Trip Expectations:

  • That you're on time at the parking lot prepared and ready to be social and engaging.
  • That we stay together as a group (to see one another at all times) and build community and trust with one another.
  • That you prepare for this hike, with sufficient nutrition, hydration and stamina.
  • That we treat one another with respect, compassion and understanding.

Trip Style:

  • I'm an inclusive leader: compassionate and approachable
  • While destination focused for this walk, I also appreciate nature and pointing out the beauty that we see around us.
  • I'm a leader who appreciates engaged participants where teamwork and community are priority
  • I am firm and definitive with logistics and my expectations, yet willing to provide flexibility if the situation allows

  • Weowna (We Oh Nah) Park lot (47.60365, -122.11231) - It is critical that you copy/paste into Google maps because there is another entrance, with one-two spots to park. We cannot begin there as the route does not make sense from that point.
  • No parking pass required
  • No toilets at the trailhead

IMPORTANT: The parking at this location is not ideal. There are at max, a 3-4 vehicle capacity, and there is literally no other option for parking as it is illegal to park along West Lake Sammamish Parkway, so while I cannot require carpooling, do know that if we don't get into 3 cars, that there will be some who will not get a spot and not be able to do this urban hike.  And the lot is also fairly dangerous trying to pull out as there is a blind spot so I will be guiding folks out so no one gets side-swiped.

With that, we will meet at Wilburton P&R Ride in Bothell at 7:30 AM. I have room for 3 people.

Wilburton P&R address:  720 114th Ave SE, Bellevue, WA 98004
