Field trip: GoHike: Beginner Hiking Course
April GoHike Urban Walk: 2.5 - 5 miles, 250 - 1,000 feet gain - Chambers Bay Regional Park
Join us for a 4.2mi extended loop of Chambers Creek Regional Park! We'll enjoying the stunning views of Puget Sound, the Olympic Mountains, and Chambers Bay Golf Course while tackling flat and hilly terrain. This park has been my happy place since I moved to WA 15 years ago and I'm excited to introduce it to all of you! This urban walk counts toward your monthly GoHike course April trips.

We'll be doing an extended version of the Chambers Bay Loop. Our goal for this urban walk is to enjoy our time in this beautiful park, have fun, and finish as a group. We will plan to do introductions and orientation at 8:00am, then hit the trail. My style is social (but also destination-focused) and I encourage getting to know your fellow walkers. I am happy to stop for photos and plant identification! We will hike as a loose group (everyone remains within eyesight) at a pace of 1.5-2.25mph and will plan to stop for a quick snack break at the Central Meadow.
We will begin our loop at the North Meadow near the Playground by the Sound. We will take the Grandview Trail to the East Slope Trail and walk down to the wastewater treatment plant entrance. Then we will backtrack to the golf course and take the Soundview Trail down the steep hill to the Central Meadow. Here we will stop for a bathroom and snack break. After our break, we will take the path past the dog park and out to Puget Sound overlook. From there, we will finish our loop by getting back on the Soundview Trail and walking through the golf course (watch out for stray balls!) and finally climbing up the hill back to the North Meadow. Pace will vary - slower on uphill portions and quicker on flat portions. After the hike, the group is invited to join me for coffee at Happy Duo Cafe!

8:00am at the North Meadow Parking Lot (near the Playground by the Sound). I suggest arriving 15 minutes early. Participants should be geared up and ready to walk at 8:00am. Bathrooms are available at the Meadow.
