Mentor Group Practice Camp

Field trip: Backpacking Building Blocks (B3) Course

Mentor Group Practice Camp - Magnuson Park

This practice camp will allow their group to practice packing their pack, setting up their shelter, gathering and filtering/treating water and making a meal, while also checking out their mentors' and fellow mentees' gear. Priority will be given to Caroline and Jenny's mentor group, and others are welcome to join in the remaining spaces available.

  • Easy
  • Mileage: 2.0
  • Elevation Gain: 50 ft
  • Pace: 2.0 mph

Please pack everything you would need on your backpack trip.  This is your chance to carry and set up your gear, filter water, and bring your "trail lunch"  including something to cook on your stove (ex: hot water for coffee, lunch noodles, instant soup).  We will then pack everything away and head back to our cars.

Students from other B3 mentor groups are welcome to signup if you cannot attend your group's practice camp, or you want more practice.

Meeting place and time

We are meeting at the Seattle Program Center (7700 SAND POINT WAY NE, SEATTLE, WA).  Please have your backpacks packed and ready at 10 am.  We will meet in the lobby or if the doors are closed, in front the main doors to the program center. From here we'll begin our walk to Kite Hill through Magnuson Park.  Plan on the activity completing around 3pm.
