Backpacking Building Blocks Student-Only Backpack - Tubal Cain Mine, Buckhorn Lake & Marmot Pass

A two night trip to Buckhorn Pass. Priority for Heidi and Christy's mentor group until June 24.

9am at the Tubal Cain Mine trailhead

This trip will give participants a chance to practice setting up a dry camp, about two miles away from a water source. Everyone will need to bring enough carrying capacity for dinner/breakfast/morning hiking - about 3L or more, depending on individual needs.

Day 1: Drive to Tubal Cain trailhead. Meet around 9-9:30. Hike the Tubal Cain Mine Trail to Buckhorn Lake, fill up water at Copper Creek, then proceed to the pass where we will set up camp (8 miles, 2600' gain).

Day 2: Hike up to Buckhorn Mountain and down to Marmot Pass and to Camp Mystery to fill up on water. Hike back to camp (6ish miles, 2000 - 2300' gain).

Day 3: Hike out and drive home - optional trip up Buckhorn Mountain this morning if the weather is bad on Sunday.
