Field’s Point Landing, Fields Point Road, Chelan, WA 98816

To Field's Point: From Chelan, take Hwy 97 north out of town and 3.5 miles from the center of town, arrive at a Y junction. Take the right hand road (Route 971) about 13 miles north to a sharp right turn into a large parking lot. There will be plenty of overnight parking available.

Drivers will need to pay for overnight parking when purchasing your boat tickets.

This is a moderate (but long distance!), beginner’s backpacking trip to give students the opportunity to try out their gear and apply the skills they've learned in the B3 course.  We’ll be hiking along the Chelan Lakeshore Trail, at a moderate pace (1.5-2 mph), with a goal of enjoying the area’s scenery and learning as much as possible. This is an early-season backpack featuring craggy, snow-capped peaks, a sapphire-blue lake and wildflowers.

Day 1: We’ll meet at Field’s Point Landing, take the Lady of the Lake ferry and be dropped off at Prince Creek. From Prince Creek, we'll hike up 10.9 miles to the Moore Point campsite, a large campsite with lots of space, nice bathrooms, beautiful views and a dock for easy water access. There also will be bear lockers here to store food in so we won’t have to bring bear canisters.

Day 2: From Moore Point, we'll hike up 7 miles to the little town of Stehekin and set up camp at the Lakeview/Purple Point campsite in Stehekin. After our 7-mile Saturday, we’ll have a variety of options:

Hang out in camp, rent bikes by the hour in Stehekin, explore Stehekin by foot, and/or visit the Stehekin Bakery.

Day 3: Before catching the 1:30pm ferry out of Stehekin, we can do an early day hike up towards Purple Pass, or we can stop by the Stehekin Bakery for breakfast/lunch. Stehekin Bakery Menu: https://stehekinpastry.com/menu/.
