This field trip will give B3 students the opportunity to try out gear and new skills on a two night moderate overnight backpack from Prince Creek to Stehekin on Lake Chelan with experienced mentors.

Meet at the Lake Chelan Field's Point parking lot Friday at 8:30am to catch the 9:20am Lady Express boat to the Prince Creek trailhead.  You may choose to camp nearby the night before at a campground, get a hotel room in Wenatchee about 1 hour away from Field's Point, or get up early and drive to Field's Point Friday morning (driving time from Seattle REI to Field's Point Landing is about 3 hr 20 mins).

We'll return to Field's Point on the Lady Express ferry Sunday about 2pm and drive home.

A boat ride, two nights backpacking along Lake Chelan, arriving in Stehekin (bakery!), and a  boat ride back to Field's Point will be a fulfilling three days.  See  www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/chelan-lakeshore for a general description of the trip.  Our group will overnight at two "wild camps"; Friday we'll hike about 7 miles north of the Prince Creek trailhead, and Saturday hike about 8 miles to our second wild camp.  Sunday we'll hike about 2 miles to Stehekin, visit the bakery, and await our 12:30pm Lady Express ferry departure.

Early priority registration will be given to students in Sarah's mentor group from April 1 through April 10 at 8pm.  Then any qualified B3 student can email Sarah at hess@whidbey.com for leader permission to sign-up.  Permission requests are not accepted before this registration opening.

Reimbursing the leader for your Lady of the Lake ferry ticket ($78 round trip), your share of the overnight parking fee at Field's Point ($7/night/vehicle), and your treat purchases at the Stehekin bakery should be expected.  Plus your organized optional Thursday night camping or hotel fee.  A "Hello Hiker" email with final trip details will be  sent about ten days before the trip departure.
