Widerness First Responder - In-person Practical Training - Bellevue Fire Department Station 9

The practical training is designed to provide opportunities to practice the skills taught in the online lessons. Base Medical Certified Instructors will verify your skills and knowledge through scenarios, skill labs, and other assessments.

  • Challenging

This is the second part of the Wilderness First Responder Course. Students must have completed the first part of the course before being able to attend this in-person training. Students will need to successfully complete the in-person training before being given access to the Final Assessment.

Class begins at 8:00 am at Bellevue Fire Station 9 - 12412 Newcastle Way - Bellevue, WA. Students are expected to stay for the entire day, which could go as late as 6:00 pm.

Park in designated areas only towards the back of the station. DO NOT park in front of apparatus bay doors or block emergency vehicle access.

To successfully pass this course, students are expected to fully understand the following concepts before arriving at the practical training:

Do not wait until the practical training to practice the skills you are learning. There are many ways you can practice these skills safely at home.

The Practical Training Information chapter in the on-line course contains the information you need for your practical training, including required equipment, scenario checklists and more.

You must demonstrate competency to obtain certification.

Required Equipment

The in-person portion of this training is  a mixture of inside and outside experiences. You may be asked to sit or lay on the ground as part of a practice scenario.  Additionally, stage make-up (moulage) is used to represent injuries.  Please wear comfortable clothing that can get dirty.  Below is a list of items recommended for for the in-person activities:

  • Pen/Pencil and notepad
  • Gear and clothing appropriate for both indoor and outdoor activities, especially consistent with weather in the location of the in-person training.
  • Water bottle, snacks and lunch. Note the facility does not allow food and beverages in the classroom./
  • Sit pad, outdoor chair, and/or closed-cell foam pad.
