This trip will focus on crevasse rescue and glacier travel. We will approach on Saturday starting at 0400 with the goal of reaching the Hogsback at 0900. We will set up camp, have lunch, rest, and travel to the Black Buttes where a nice-looking crevasse will be waiting for us so we can practice rescue in a real crevasse. We should be done before 1800 and will then head back to camp to rest. On day 2, the plan is to have an alpine start to attempt the summit of Mount Baker via the Coleman-Deming route; if we are too tired, we will do more crevasse rescue practices. Back to cars by the end of the day.
Heliotrope Ridge Trailheat at 0400.
