This practice session will provide dedicated time for students to learn basic belay skills for rock climbing including:
- Fitting & wearing a harness
- Tying in with a retraced figure 8 knot
- Partner checks
- Climbing commands
- Top rope belaying with the PBUS method
- Lowering with an assisted braking belay device
This session is strongly encouraged for students who are new to rock climbing. Belaying is a fundamental skill that you will use throughout the Basic Alpine course. Spending time perfecting this skill now will make future classes easier.
