Train-the-Trainer Clinic - Deception Pass

This clinic is intended for all instructors, assistants, and future instructors and assistants to practice and learn how to teach the Everett Basic Kayak Course students.  We demonstrate and practice the entire gamut of skills including:

• Wet Exits and Self Rescues (both standard and heel hook)
• Assisted Rescues
• Paddle Strokes

 After completion of this clinic you will be expected to assist at our pool training on April 18, 2026  and/or Open Water on April 25, 2026 (Please keep the alternate date of 4/26 open as well!)

2025 and prior Basic class graduates are encouraged to join us and get a refresher on their skills as well as help this year's class! 

Meet at 9:00AM at Bowman Bay at Deception Pass State Park.  Be ready to launch and begin clinic at 9:45 AM.

IMPORTANT:  The Deception Pass Half-Marathon begins from Cranberry Lake at 9:00 AM.  There will be an aid station at mile 7.2 in the west side of Bowman Bay parking lot.  The race organizers do not expect this to be a large footprint, but please arrive on time and expect that side of the lot to be off limits.  Carpool if possible.

Come prepared for a working lunch, and we will finish by or before 3:00 PM.

An optional/no-host post-clinic rehydration and energy replacement event will be scheduled for a local restaurant.  Details to follow.
