Stewardship - Wynoochee Lake

Celebrate Earth Day with the Olympia Mountaineers and Washington Trails Association (WTA) for a day or a weekend of maintenance on the lovely Wynoochee Lakeshore Trail.

8:30am at the south end of Lake Wynoochee

This long trail around Wynoochee Lake is in need of much repair, especially on the east side of the lake. This work party will focus on cutting out logs across the trail and brushing back anything encroaching into the corridor.  There is also usually drainage to clean out and tread to widen.  We may even run into some trail washouts that require a short realignment of the trail.  We'll have fun, work hard and make a difference!

Volunteer on Saturday, Sunday or both days (Sign up separately for each day).  We’re all invited to camp out on Saturday night at the Satsop Work Center where the facilities include restroom, showers, kitchen and potable water. This overnight is optional, but there will be a fun potluck dinner for those who can stay after work is done on Saturday.  Our hike to the project site is expected to be 3-5 miles roundtrip over gently rolling terrain on Sunday.

No experience is necessary for this work party because WTA will provide the training and tools needed.  This will be a private WTA work party exclusively for Mountaineers members, provided we can fill each day with at least 15 volunteers.  All participants will earn double credit:  Mountaineers Stewardship badge and WTA work party credit.  Most of all we will have fun and help make a huge difference in repairing a beautiful trail for others to enjoy this year.
