October PWC Meeting - Hiking the Alpine Lakes Wilderness

October PWC Meeting - Hiking the Alpine Lakes Wilderness

Join the Peninsula Wilderness Club in welcoming brothers and co-authors of "Alpine Lakes Wilderness: The Complete Hiking Guide" Nathan and Jeremy Barnes for a discussion of this beloved wilderness and the many hiking opportunities it offers.

Nathan and Jeremy Barnes will share tips and advice for exploring this unique place along with spectacular photography for inspiration and historical vignettes for context. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A period and an opportunity to purchase a copy of the book and have it signed by the authors.

About the book:

A sprawling wonderland, Washington’s Alpine Lakes Wilderness harbors old-growth forest, glacier-dredged creek valleys, ice-sharpened peaks, wildflower-studded hillsides, glassy tarns, rocky crags, and so much more. With more than 600 miles of trails and more than 700 sparkling alpine lakes and ponds, this treasured wilderness encompasses a lifetime’s worth of mountain landscapes. Alpine Lakes Wilderness: The Complete Hiking Guide features routes across the spectrum: longtime favorites like the fabled Enchantments, such lesser-known and lightly traveled trails as the peaceful Deception Lakes, and ambitious backpacks like the striking tour of lake basins in the Chiwaukum Mountains. Hikers of all ages and skill levels will find trails to suit their taste.
