Campfire Stories: The San Juan Islands | Book Talk

Join Ilyssa and Dave Kyu, co-editors of Campfire Stories: The San Juan Islands - Tales & Travel Companion, for a celebration of the San Juan Islands! They will be joined by special guests  Gary Thompson, Jessica Gigot, Rena Priest, and Jill McCabe Johnson. This event is free and open to the public.

Settle in with these literary wonders and allow the ferry’s gentle sway to transport you to “island time.” You’ll watch Southern Resident orcas breach in the distance, taste the bounty of a San Juan apple orchard, and smell the sweet, salty air of the surrounding sea with this thoughtfully curated collection of nineteen tales. Including work from Rena Priest, Lynda V. Mapes, Jill McCabe Johnson, Jessica Gigot, Quincy Henry, and more, Campfire Stories: The San Juan Islands is a celebration of this special place.

About the editors: ILYSSA KYU is a design researcher focused on storytelling and creative solutions at the intersection of nature, design, and inclusion and the founder of Amble, a sabbatical program for creative professionals to take time away with purpose in support of nature conservancies. DAVE KYU is a socially engaged artist, writer, and arts administrator. Born in Seoul, South Korea, and raised in the United States, he explores the creative tensions of identity, community, and public space in his work. They live with their two daughters outside of Philadelphia and are always seeking adventure and connection in the outdoors.
