Interested in helping  young people build skills, courage, and a lifelong love of the outdoors, while having a blast along the way? The 2025–2026 youth program year is about to kick off, and we’re seeking passionate volunteers to spark adventure in the next generation of leaders. From climbing and skiing to kayaking and trail running, there are so many ways to share your love of the outdoors.

Part of the magic of Mountaineers youth clubs is giving kids the opportunity to learn directly from our incredible community. This year, we’re welcoming more volunteers into the fold. Fill out our volunteer interest form to get involved! (Filling out the form simply means you’ll get occasional emails from us about volunteer opportunities — no commitment required.)

Here’s a little more information about our programs:

Mountaineers Adventure Club (MAC) – For high school students eager to take on bigger adventures and leadership roles. MAC members plan and lead many of their own trips, from climbing and backcountry skiing to sea kayaking and alpine scrambles. Volunteers provide mentorship, share technical skills, and join trips to help ensure a safe and successful outing.

Jr. MAC & Explorers – For students ages 10-13and their families, Explorers offers monthly outdoor trips like hiking, camping, climbing, and snowshoeing. Volunteers work alongside parents to help students build confidence, learn outdoor skills, and try new activities in a supportive environment.

Pathfinders – For youth ages 6-9 and their families, Pathfinders focuses on short, fun, and skill-building adventures. Volunteers help introduce kids to the outdoors in a safe, playful way while also supporting parents who may be learning alongside their kids.

Mini Mountaineers - For preschool-aged children and their families, Mini Mountaineers is all about sparking curiosity and comfort in the outdoors through short walks, nature play, and simple hands-on activities. Volunteers help create a fun, welcoming environment where the youngest adventurers can explore the natural world alongside their parents.
