Did you know that last winter – just between November and January – our community grew by more than four percent? People need community more than ever. Our hunger for connection to the natural world and to each other has never been greater. Donations to The Mountaineers help ensure that everyone can find joy, confidence, and connection outdoors.
We are looking for 300 Mountaineers like you to make a spring donation by May 31 to support our mission and community. As of today, 225 people have responded. Can we count on you?
“The Mountaineers creates opportunities for people to gather and form friendships based on common interests, potentially across generational, socioeconomic, or other identity-based categories. We’re all better off when our communities are bigger than those we consider most like us. I donate to The Mountaineers because I see how its work makes the Pacific Northwest a more welcoming place to recreate – and call home.”

Building an inclusive community requires tangible investment. Here are a few ways that The Mountaineers builds a vibrant community of outdoor enthusiasts:
- Youth Partner Programs bring outdoor education opportunities like snowshoeing, rock climbing, navigation, and more to young people who might not otherwise have access.
- Scholarships enable people of all backgrounds and ages to access outdoor education and activities, including Mountaineers summer camps, after-school programs, wilderness first aid training, and courses like Basic Alpine Climbing or Canyoning.
- Leadership training equips current and aspiring outdoor leaders to plan every phase of a course or trip through the lens of equity and belonging, and foster authentic community connections.
- Mountaineers Books titles prepare adventurers of all skill levels to get outside and allow every reader to see themselves in the natural world, whether planning an expedition, taking a journey vicariously, or gaining inspiration from others.
