We’re thrilled to share our annual impact report for fiscal year 2024 (October 1, 2023-September 30, 2024), a celebration of all that our community of outdoor enthusiasts made possible.

This report showcases our community’s commitment to living out our strategic plan, Adventure with Purpose, and shares updates on how we lead, engage, and advocate. It also provides impact stories and key takeaways from our programs, philanthropy, financials, and publishing.

Highlights Worth Celebrating:

  • 16,600 members explored 224,370 miles
  • 3,573 individual volunteers gave 182,654 volunteer hours
  • $2.4 million raised in philanthropic support
  • 476,638 Mountaineers Books sold worldwide
  • 137 Organizations partnered to provide over 6,000 total youth experiences
  • 116 meetings with lawmakers and land managers
  • And more!

The 2024 Impact Report is laid out in sections that align with our current strategic plan and how specific impact was made in each area:

  • LEAD innovation in outdoor education. In FY24, we expanded access and fostered belonging for historically excluded communities in the outdoors by prioritizing emotional and psychological safety through affinity-based programs and other avenues.
  • ENGAGE a vibrant community of outdoor enthusiasts. Last year, a powerful culture of reciprocal giving flourished as volunteers and donors collaboratively empowered more individuals to connect with nature, reinforcing the idea that as our community strengthens, so does our collective ability to expand access.
  • ADVOCATE on behalf of the natural world. Our commitment to advocacy was evident in many areas last year, particularly through our youth programming that cultivated personal connections to nature, instilled responsible recreation ethics, and empowered the next generation of environmental stewards.

We hope that as you read through this report, you’ll be inspired by everything you made possible for our community. Thank you for working with us toward a world where our outdoor adventures extend beyond the reach of our own personal enjoyment and where all people can confidently enjoy the natural world and feel inspired to protect it. We are endlessly grateful for the thousands of people who invest their time, treasure, talent, testimony, and ties into making our mission a reality. Together, we Adventure with Purpose.
