Trip Report

Day Hike - Sequalitchew Canyon & Edmond Marsh

This route on City of DuPont trails takes you through wooded sections, across a marsh and down a beautiful forested canyon to Nisqually Reach.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • The trail along this route is clear and in great shape. It’s 6 miles out & back to a beach on the Nisqually Reach.  Some short sections are paved, but it’s mostly earthen trails.  Gentle elevation changes make this trail easy for most hikers with just 200 feet elevation gain.

We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day in February. The group was able to have lunch on the beach in spring-like temperatures and the sun peaking through the clouds. This trail is easily accessible from I-5 and the small, gravel parking area is free and no pass is required.  We spent 3.5 hours on the 6 mile route, stopping to learn about the rich history of DuPont along the way.
