Day Hike - Dickerman Mountain

Perfect midweek hike to the summit of Dickerman

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Route was in great shape all the way.  No issues.

Some bugs at the parking lot and along the lower sections of the trail, but not really an issue.

Group of 5 for midweek hike to the summit of Mt. Dickerman.  Three participants left from the Ash Way P&R at 6:00am, early enough that we were slowed by morning commute traffic only a little bit.  (Our HOV status helped.) We met the other participants at the trailhead at 7:45am and were on the trail at 8am.

The hike up was pleasant but uneventful, and we arrived at the summit a little before noon. Conditions were clear and views were spectacular in all directions.   The upper part of the mountain including the summit was filled with flowers of various varieties and colors.  Many types and groups of butterflies also decorated the summit.  We left the summit at 1pm and were back at the cars at about 3:30.

Though we did not have total solitude on the trip, by going midweek we did manage to avoid the weekend crowds on this popular trail.  We saw about 20 other people all day, mostly on the hike down.  When we arrived on the summit there were only 2 people there ahead of us, and when we left there were about 10 spread across Dickerman's twin summits.
