Ash Way Park and Ride at 6:00am. (We are meeting early to avoid weekday commute traffic.)
Considered one of the more spectacular destinations along the Mountain Loop Highway, recent trip reports indicate the route up Mount Dickerman is mostly is melted out and the wildflowers are blooming. It looks like now is the time to go.
Because this popular destination can be crowded on weekends we will go midweek and get an early start to avoid the weekday commute traffic. After the hike we will probably stop for pizza in Granite Falls, not just for the food and company but also to give the afternoon commute traffic time to die down before we return to the Urban.
Even though the pace will be moderate, the elevation gain make this a strenuous trip. To be adequately prepared for the 3900' gain of this route you should have been doing regular trips of at least 2500' - 3000' during the last month or so.
We may still find some lingering snow along this steep route, so please bring poles and traction devices.
