Basic Rock Climb - Yellowjacket Tower/East Flank
Great early season climb. Chossy approach with rockfall hazard. Definitely a good idea to go with someone who has done this climb before.

- Basic Rock Climb - Yellowjacket Tower/East Flank
- Yellowjacket Tower/East Flank
- Climbing
- Successful
- Road suitable for all vehicles
-
- No water or snow on the route.
- The initial climber's trail up to Nature's Garbage Chute is still obvious, but quite brushy.
- Once in the Garbage Chute, we stayed to the left hand side where there is the faintest of climber's trails.
- As always, there is quite a bit of loose stuff. At one point a member of our party dislodged a gallon-jug-sized rock that clipped someone's backpack. Everyone was unscathed, but we were very glad to be wearing helmets.
- The bolt hangers at the base of the first pitch are in good condition. There is plenty of tat hanging here and we trusted it enough to use for our anchor. But, I would still advise carrying extra tat just in case.
- The route was just a little sandy/pine needle-y in a couple places, but nothing special to report.
- David, who set the top rope on the tower, said that the little pocket where one would usually put a (I believe pink) tricam is slightly larger than years past and he used the next largest tricam to protect.
- The bolts on top of the tower were in good condition. The final person up (me) did a clean and rappel to descend it.
