This is a traverse, starting at the UW Montlake Triangle and ending at the Washington Park Playfield just off East Madison Street.
Description of walk:
Setting off from the UW Montlake Triangle, we’ll walk across the pedestrian bridge to the University of Washington light rail station. We’ll then proceed south across the Montlake Bridge to our first stop at the totem pole and viewpoint in East Montlake Park. From there, we’ll meander over to the Graham Visitor’s Center by way of Marsh and Foster Islands. We’ll then make our way to Volunteer Park, but not before visiting Interlaken Park, Louisa Boren Park, and the Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery. At Volunteer Park, we’ll see the Black Sun sculpture in front of the Seattle Asian Art Museum as well as the Olmsted Exhibit on the observation deck of the Volunteer Park Water Tower. At this point, we’ll head back to the arboretum to the end point of our walk at the Washington Park Playfield just south of the Seattle Japanese Garden on Lake Washington Blvd East.
This urban trail is accessible by public transit at multiple points and includes access to public restrooms, food, and water.
You may elect to take public transit back to Husky Stadium. Information about public transit, parking, and car shuttle options will be in the Hello Urban Walker email.
