Stewardship - Tolmie State Park
Tolmie State Park offers a 2 1/4 mile loop with some up and down, along with side trails just outside the Lacey city limits. Join us and take a pull on a crosscut saw as we remove at least seven fallen trees from the trail.

We scouted the Four Cedars Trail on 11/27, and found seven downed trees, mostly 10" to 14", and one about 28". More trees may have come down in the meanwhile. We will have two groups, starting from different trailheads, working toward each other. Each group will be headed by a US Forest Service-certified sawyer with a Mountaineers sawyer badge. Even if you have not worked on a saw team before, you can help as a "swamper", and will get a chance to pull on a saw. Likely hiking distance is about two miles round-trip.
Please wear long sleeves and long pants, and sturdy leather work or hiking boots. Tools, hard hats, work gloves and eye protection will be provided. Pack a snack, lunch, and water.
We will meet at the lower trailhead parking lot, in the turn-around at the end of the lot, at 9:00 a.m. To get there, from I-5 exit 111, drive north on Marvin Road to the end, turn right on 56th Ave. NE, , then turn left on Hill St. NE, marked with a sign for "Tolmie State Park". Drive north, and keep left at a "Y", continuing on 61st Ave. NE. This will take you into the park entrance. Continue straight, past the upper parking lot, and take the road down to the lower lot and beach. Signs advise locking your vehicle and not leaving any valuables, which is a good policy anywhere.
