In general the Campground Clean Up issues include, clearing roads and campsites of leaves, limbs, down trees, remove ashes from campfire rings, clear all winter debris from the areas around restrooms, kiosks and other facilities and clearing the 0.8 mile Brown Creek Pond Nature Trail for visitors. This year’s actual Campground Clean Up issues will be uncovered by a scouting team in early April and details shared with those registered
At the Campground we will begin with a Tailgate Safety Briefing for all participants. (Safety is our #1 Goal) We will form into teams and disperse to begin work on the cleanup activities: There are 20 campsites in Brown Creek Campground,a Pay station, an Information Bulletin Board and Brown Creek Nature Trail. The Forest Service RecShed staff plan to participate in this project and will provide gas powered backpack leaf blowers and may provide powered brushing tools. Arrangements may need to be made for Chainsaw support for any down trees and large limbs.
Several years ago, the US Forest Service Olympic National Forest office asked the Olympia Mountaineers Conservation and Stewardship Committee that they did not have the personnel to get the campgrounds ready each season, and that we were indispensable for opening the campgrounds. That has become a regular spring project for our branch, along with other projects. In recognition of our contributions, in 2023 our committee received the prestigious Citizenship Stewardship and Partnership for the U.S. Forest Service Region 6, a region that covers 17 National Forests, a National Scenic Area, a National Grassland, and two National Volcanic Monuments throughout Oregon and Washington.

Our Carpool meeting place will be Haggen's Food and Drugs near main entrance to the parking lot by the US Mail box meeting at 8:30 a.m.
The Brown Creek Campground is a little less than an hour drive from Olympia. We plan to arrive at the campground entrance road at around 10:00 a.m. Over the last few year we found that the road signs for the Campground had been removed (vandalisms) so finding the campground can be difficult. It will be best if we caravan to worksite.
