Day Hike - Sequalitchew Creek

Sequalitchew Creek Canyon provides a convenient route from the shore of Puget Sound to the top of the DuPont bluffs. DuPont built a dynamite factory on the bluff and a pier on the shore. Raw materials and finished product were transported between dock and factory on railroad cars running on narrow-gauge track laid along the canyon. It's a variation on the familiar "rails to trails" sequence.

If you are recovering from surgery, rehabbing an injury, trying to get back in shape, or just doing some low intensity maintenance workouts, this may suit you.  This hike is about 2.8 miles and 230' elevation gain. We'll try for a social pace, slow enough to talk but enough for some cardio conditioning.  The canyon should give us some shade, and we can catch some sun on the beach.  You may want to bring Tevas and get your feet wet.  We should have views of the Olympic range across the Sound.  Hiking time about two hours. We'll hike rain or shine.
