Day Hike - May Valley Loop (Squak Mountain)

May Valley loop is a lovely hike through the lush forest with opportunities to see some creeks and narrow ravines. We will start at the May Valley Loop trail head and connect to the Bullitt Gorge Trail and then to the Bullitt Fire place trail where we will stop for snack breaks, photos and conversation for 20-30 minutes. After we will head up to the Squak Mountain Summit and then head back down the South Access Road to connect to the trail which we will stay on for a quarter-mile. At a 'T' intersection, turn left and hike another quarter mile to an intersection with the May Valley Loop trail and head back to the trail head. 

This is an intermediate hike with the pace aimed for conditioning and will allow for conversation with fellow hikers and enjoying nature. We will hike as a group and stop at intersections, and take frequent breaks as needed. The elevation is moderate at 1684, with some sections steeper than others. Trekking poles are recommended, but not required. Plan to be out on the trail 4-4.5 hours, this includes time for breaks. 

Please note your leader is slower hiking downhill than up and the pace will range from 2-2.5 mph. This is a mentored hike for Monique Savedo. I look forward to hiking with you should you decide to participate.

• Be on time to the parking lot.
• An enjoyable experience in nature meeting new or old friends. Every one is treated with courtesy and respect. 
• Be prepared to hike in all weather conditions, rain or shine and dress accordingly.

We will meet at the May Valley Loop Trailhead at the Squak Mountain State Park parking lot (21500 May Valley Road, Issaquah, WA) at 8am. Bring your Discover Pass, there is a kiosk to purchase a day pass in the parking lot if you forget to bring yours. Please arrive at 8:00am and be ready to hike with boots on and packs ready rain or shine by 8:15am.
