Day Hike - Lower South Fork Skokomish River
An easy, 8 - 10 mile in-and-out day hike with 575 feet of elevation gain along the lower South Fork of the Skokomish River between Brown's Camp and Camp Comfort. The trail goes through old-growth forests just above the river. Enjoy lots of dynamic river terrain and some big trees.

Depending on the group and the pace (approximately 2.0 mph) we will hike about 4 miles along lower South Fork of the Skokomish River, eat lunch along the river, and then hike back to the trailhead.
Getting there: From Shelton, travel north on US Highway 101 for 7 miles, turning left (west) at milepost 340 onto the Skokomish Valley Road (signed "Skokomish Recreation Area"). Follow it for 5.6 miles, bearing right at a V intersection onto Forest Road 23. Continue for 9.3 miles (pavement ends at 1 mile and resumes again at 2.5 miles), bear right at a Y junction with FR 2353. In 0.6 mile, come to a junction upon crossing the South Fork Skokomish River. Turn left continuing on FR 2353 and reach the trailhead in 0.2 mile.
Meet at the Lower South Fork Skokomish River Trailhead at 9:00 AM. Privy is available at trailhead. Additional details will be sent by email to registered participants.
