Day Hike - Heybrook Ridge
This is a traverse hike with car shuttle. Our hike will start at the Heybrook Ridge Trailhead, and end 2 miles east at the intersection of NF Road 210 and Index-Galena Road. This is a beautiful hike that will take us past Heybrook Lookout, with views of Philadelphia, Index, Baring, Merchant and Gunn when the skies are clear. We'll hike as far as the burn area to witness the devastating and haunting aftermath of the 2022 Bolt Creek Fire.

Description of Hike: We'll take the Heybrook Ridge Trail to the Bridal Falls Viewpoint (1.66 miles, 800 feet elevation gain). From there, we'll head east ~1 mile to a junction with the Heybrook Lookout Trail. This section is mostly flat and almost entirely under power lines. We'll then hike 0.3 miles (600 feet elevation gain) to the Heybrook Lookout. After a short rest, we'll continue eastward 1.5 miles to the burn area caused by the 2022 Bolt Creek Fire. On our return, we'll come down NF Road 210 and cross beautiful Lewis Creek to the end point of our traverse.
Rain: Rain or shine, the hike is on!
Water: Bring water, as there are no convenient spots along the trail to refill.
