We'll travel in the forest on Pratt Lake Trail #1007 for 1.2 miles from the Pratt Lake trailhead, then take the Granite Mountain trail #1016 which continues in the forest but pushes uphill, gaining 1,000/ft/ mile on switchbacks. Once we achieve the meadow (with ripe berries to snack on), the cover is gone, and the tread is rocky in places. The final push to the summit may require light use of hands. The lookout itself is only open if there is a Ranger to staff it.

We'll take regular breaks and time to experience & enjoy the flora, fauna, & views with a nice lunch stop at the top.  Plan to be on the trail 6-7 hours. Bring plenty of water, expect some bugs.

The weather forecast is for cool temps (low 60's), with a slight chance of drizzle and likely clouds - Windy.com. We may not get full views, but we won't roast either.

It will be my first time on this trail, so we'll explore it together. Britt says it's her favorite trail along the 1-90 corridor.  Join us if this sounds like fun!
