Day Hike - Double Si
Double Mt. Si. Ascent via the new trail from the main Mt. Si lot, up to the sign post, down the Old Mt. Si trail to the Little Si parking lot, then back up to the sign, returning to the main parking lot. Though not part of the "Conditioning Hiking Series", the primary purpose of this trip is conditioning for glacier climbing.

We will depart from the main Mt. Si parking lot, ascend via the New Trail up to the last sign on the trail (indicating that the Haystack is another .3 miles), then head down the Old Mt. Si trail to the Little Si parking lot. We will pause for lunch, then reverse course.
Trip open to all branches and eligible members. This hike is for improving physical conditioning for glacier climbing. Recommend carrying a minimum of 20 lbs. but not more than 30 lbs./25% of your body weight without submitting prior experience and details with your request to register. This is not a hike recommended for beginners. The last time that I did a double Mt. Si hike, it ran approx. 7 hours, so plan for a long day. The pace is listed as 1.8-2.3 mph, but we will adjust to trail conditions and a pace that allows conversations. Other than personal bio-breaks, we will stay together as a group within speaking distance of one another. Our plan would be to spend no more than 15-20 min. for a lunch break, rest, and enjoy a snack, prior to reversing course.
Meet and assemble at Mt. Si main trailhead (near the sign by the pit toilets) at 6:00 AM. Brief introductions and trip review and depart by 6:15 AM. Unless the National Weather Service declares an emergency: we will hike rain, snow, or shine.
