Day Hike - Discovery Park

RESCHEDULED - Leisurely hike on the Discovery Park loop trail.

  • Easy
  • For Beginners (Getting Started Series)
  • Mileage: 4.4 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 522 ft
  • Pace: 1.5 mph or slower

Meet at the Environmental Learning Center at 10am. We will leave the center promptly at 10:10am.

We will follow the Discovery Loop trail down to the north beach, cut across behind the lighthouse and hike back to the visitor's center via the trail along the Discovery Park Blvd.

We will most likely stop at the lighthouse for lunch, so bring a sack lunch with you, along with plenty of water.

We should be finished around 2pm or so.

Here is a link to the trail we will be hiking.

Please note: If you are a fast hiker, this hike may not be for you. Our pace will be a leisurely pace of around 1 - 1.5 mph and may have frequent rests as we head back up hill after lunch.

In case of rain: if the forecast calls for a a little rain off and on, we will still hike the trail. However, if it calls for continuous rain all day, we will postpone the hike.
