Learn to Identify the mosses, lichens and liverworts of our Northwest lowland forests at Capitol Land Trust's Darlin Creek Preserve as we explore our natural world. You’ll appreciate the colors, textures and shapes of these plant forms when they are especially beautiful during our wet winter months.

The number of mosses, lichens and liverworts to ID can be overwhelming, so we will concentrate on 10. I’ll have samples of these plus a short description to help ID them along with a color handout. These will be set up so that you can take a photo to help you with the ID. We will mention a number of others, but will concentrate on the ones displayed. If you have a hand lens, please bring it; some of the plant features are very small and a lens will help.
