9:00 am Winthrop Town Trailhead and Rink (use upper parking lot).

Please make sure to have purchased your trail pass ahead of time. Look here for more information on trail pass purchase.

From the Winthrop Town Trailhead we'll cross-country ski on the flat Methow Community Trail  about 2.6 miles to Power's Plunge.  We will ski (herringbone) up it circling back to the Winthrop trail  then rejoin the Community trail back to the trailhead for a total of about 8-10 miles.  The plan is to be back around noon.

The trails should be well groomed with classic track and skate lane trails.  There may be some small hills that will require wedge brake and turn to descend and herringbone to ascend some sections. A good standard of fitness and stamina is required. This trip is not suitable for first time Nordic skiers: even those with Alpine ski experience. Classic waxless skis preferred, but skating is also an option.

This activity is part of Methow Valley Winter Trails month.  There are a variety of other cross-country ski and snowshoe trips over the weekend you can participate in as well as other activities.
