Cross-country Ski - Methow Valley Winter Trails

This is day 2 of a 3-day cross-country ski trip (Wed-Fri) in the Methow Valley.   Trips offered will be easy (green) to moderate (blue) depending on the skill level of the participants registering and will range from 10-12 miles beginning from either the Winthrop town Trailhead, the Mazama trailhead or the Chickadee Trail (Sun Mountain).  We will determine the best trails depending on the weather and ski conditions.

There will be 2-3 co-leaders for this trip enabling us to offer a mix of easy/intermediate/advanced intermediate level trips participants can choose from.  

These trips are not suitable for first time Nordic skiers: even those with Alpine ski experience. Participants should be able to navigate small hills that will require wedge brake and turn to descend and herringbone to ascend some sections. A good standard of fitness and stamina is required.  Classic wax less skis preferred.

  The Methow Valley is roughly 250 miles and 4 - 5 hours from Seattle. You have the option to carpool or provide your own transportation and lodging in Winthrop or elsewhere in the Methow Valley. 

Lodging option:  Leader has reserved a 3-bedroom cottage at the River's Edge Resort for Jan 6-9.  River's Edge Resort - Winthrop - United States (riversedgewinthrop.com).  Cost will be between $290-370 per person/room for the 3 nights (depending on the number of people staying).  This cottage offers a private hot tub on the riverside deck with river views, a full-sized kitchen, laundry facilities, and a flat-screen TV with satellite channels.  1 King, 1 Queen and 2 twin beds.  If you would like to reserve a room, you will need to email me separately and pay a deposit.
