Our goal will be to go at a moderate and steady pace.  In years past, our groups have made it up between 2:10 and 2:20.  We will take a short break at 15 minutes for layers, a quick break at 1h and 2h mark for water or snacks.

This is a scrambling/climbing conditioner with priority to Olympia Alpine Scrambling students and Olympia Basic Climbing Students until Sunday, March 8, 2026 at 8:00AM, when registration opens to all. If you are not an Olympia AS or BC student and sign up before 3/8/26 at 8:00am, you will be removed. If you are an experienced scrambler/hiker and want to the assistant leader spot, please contact me.

Goal is to get from trailhead to top in  2.5 hours (one way). We'll go at a moderate pace, with a focus on moving efficiently.

All Olympia Scrambling students must successfully complete a conditioner prior to Snow 2 FT (May 9, 2026).  You must carry a pack of around 20 pounds and reach the summit in 2.5 hours to successfully complete this conditioner.

All Olympia BAC students must successfully complete a climb conditioner prior to March 22, 2026 (Field Trip 3). Successful completion of this trip counts toward the climb conditioner requirement. You must carry a pack that's 20 percent of your body weight or 35 pounds (whichever is heavier), and reach the summit in 2.5 hours to successfully complete this climb conditioner.

Please check your pack weight at home. Do not estimate. Bring a few extra water bottles to supplement the weight if necessary, we will check our pack weight in the parking lot before we begin our hike. Leader will bring a scale.

Other branches scrambling and climbing -- please refer to your respective course manuals for weight and time requirements.
