This day gravel ride is on a 18.5 mi loop with up to 15% grade uphill and 20% grade downhill. The gravel is of a larger size in some areas, and there is occasional loose gravel that might require you to walk your bike. There are a few miles of single track riding, although it is wider style of walking/multi-use trail rather than a narrow hiking trail. This is an example of a strenuous type of conditioning ride. It presents challenges in terrain and some obstacles such as water bars across the trail on steep grades, loose gravel on a steep slope, larger gravel. Varied terrain grades, mixed single track and wide gravel road.  Hilly. It can test your will. With this type of ride, when you get through it the first time, it's much easier the second time due to knowing what to expect. Much of this ride is not just a physical challenge, but a psychological challenge as well. It can prepare you for what you might encounter on some of the more challenging trips you might want to sign up for.

Depending on the conditioning of the participants and any mechanical difficulties, the ride could take 2.5 hours (that's a faster pace) or up to perhaps 4 hours. I expect the ride to be 3 to 3.5 hours.

Meet at Northshore Athletic Fields (47.733324, -122.144731) in Woodinville. Briefing at 9:45 AM. Pedals up at 10:00 AM.  If interested, we can have great food at Hollywood Tavern after the ride.
