Issaquah Transit Center, 11 am

We're all anxious for some snow time, so let's head out on the day after Christmas and see what we can find!  If we're lucky there might be some new snow to tromp in.  But I would suggest packing microspikes (if you have them) in case the trail is hard-packed and thin.

We'll travel up Commonwealth Basin, with a goal to reach the area at the base of Red Mountain.  If folks are interested (and so-equipped) we can do some avalanche beacon practice while we're there.

I've set a late start time so we can sleep in after a busy holiday with friends and family.  Make double-sure that you pack your headlamp with fresh batteries, as we may well be returning to the cars after dark.

I encourage you to bring Christmas goodie leftovers to share!

Please note: Basic Snowshoe students must have completed their course field trip to be eligible for this trip (unless they already are Scramble or Climb graduates).
